Anthony Howell

Anthony Howell – Managing Director / Principal Consultant, A.H. Lancer Consulting Ltd.

I’m an experienced social care professional with a strong background in residential leadership, supporting children and young people with complex needs, learning difficulties, and behaviours of distress. I’m passionate about creating trauma-informed environments where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

My journey began in supported accommodation, managing services for young people aged 16–18 and helping them prepare for independent living. Since 2020, I’ve been Ofsted-registered as a Registered Manager, achieving multiple Good and Outstanding outcomes, and have also served as a Responsible Individual (RI), leading homes to embed strong safeguarding cultures and sustainable quality improvement.

I’ve mentored deputy managers into confident leaders and supported services through regulatory recovery — transforming inadequate homes into compliant, well-led environments. Alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, I’ve completed advanced training including PACE Therapeutic Practice, Safeguarding Lead, and Safer Recruitment.

As Managing Director and Principal Consultant of A.H. Lancer Consulting Ltd, I work with providers nationwide to enhance compliance, governance, and leadership. I’m proud to have helped turn services around, launched a national Responsible Individual service, and developed the AHLC Compliance Companion — a digital toolkit for inspection readiness.

Above all, I’m driven by the belief that every child deserves consistent, high-quality care — and I’m committed to helping organisations deliver exactly that.

My participation in the Ofsted Ethnic Minorities Shadowing Programme strengthened my understanding of regulatory frameworks and deepened my perspective on diversity in leadership within children’s social care.

I’m passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people and bring a wealth of knowledge, credibility, and compassion to everything I do.

Through my leadership, I continue to promote high standards of care, compliance, and professional development across the social care sector.
